The Fruits of Fellowship

Christian fellowship is one of the essentials of a happy Christian life. No Christian is fulfilling the great will of God until there is a vertical and horizontal fellowship. By that I mean with God and God’s people in the Local Church setting.

Before I get to my points, I need to point out that there are at least two essentials of Biblical fellowship. 1. A genuine Salvation experience and 2. Spiritual cleanness with God.

Eph. 5:11 admonishes believers, “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.”

Fellowship (Koinonia) meaning partnership, communion.

2 Cor. 6:14 ask a question: “What fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?” The answer is that it is impossible outside of being of the same kind and mind. In the Christian family, fellowship is only possible when both parties are in fellowship with God. Gal. 2:9 Speaks of the “right hand of fellowship.” Phil. 1:5 shows that when we enter the family of God by faith in Christ, we partner in the gospel and in (3:10) we partner in the sufferings of Christ.

Please read 1 John 1:3-7 which speaks of the subject as well.

Here are some of the fruits of Christian fellowship.

1. There is a bonding together. We share life’s blessings, life’s needs, and a common bonding like no other in this life. In fact, we are knit together in a Spiritual way which can only be experienced in the New Birth. Col. 2:1-3

2. There is the building together. In Biblical fellowship, we build strong, lasting, Godly relationships that God will use in other special ways in the Body of Christ for the gospel’s sake. There is great fellowship in carrying out the great commission of Christ, seeing souls saved, lives changed, homes secured and Christ honored. We are partners with God and with each other in the Great Commission.

1Cor. 3:9 “For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.”

3. And naturally, there is battling together. There is strength in numbers and part of God’s plan in battling satan is that we stand together in fellowship as an army of God against his wicked ways. Listen, I have watched helplessly as some of the sheep I have Pastored have wandered from the flock, the Church. Satan loves to divide and conquer, and God designed His people to be communal, social, a “flock.” Acts 20:28-29 “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.” See also Eccl. 4:9-12

4. Finally, there is our being together in the storms of life, to help and encourage each other. 2 Cor. 7:5-7, 13-16

Are you in fellowship with God and Believers in the Local Church.? If you are Saved, yet you are not in a local Bible-believing Church, I want to encourage you to find one and get back in fellowship where you can be blessed and be a blessing.
