The Resurrection was required for eternal life

The greatest victory in life is the victory over self
The two most secularized days of the year are Thanksgiving and Christmas. The truth is that a great many Americans are thankful and celebrate Thanksgiving, without defining who they are thankful to for the blessings received. To many people, thanksgiving is a secular celebration, not a spiritual celebration. This nation was founded upon the principles of the Bible and the Bible tells us of the one true and living God. There has been an ungodly effort to take away every reference to God and His Bible in our land. When one is offering thanksgiving without offering it to the God of the Bible, it is pointless. We surely do not thank our lucky stars, or any angelic beings. It is plain in the Scriptures that only The God of The Bible is worthy of our thanks. There is a connection between being unthankful and being godless. (Rom. 1:21; 2 Tim. 3:2). It is a sad thing that a godless society cannot recognize the goodness of God and give thanks and praise to the Living God for all His great blessings on man. Please look at Luke 6:35 in the midst of the beatitudes and notice something of God’s goodness…”for He is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” God is still good when men are bad. One of the lowest forms of disrespect is that of being unthankful to God. True thanksgiving comes from the heart, not the mouth. There are at least 30 references to thanksgiving in the Bible. We true believers cannot help but be thankful at all times for the goodness of God in our lives, not just for saving us, but for all His blessing on us daily. We are conscious daily of God’s goodness to us and cannot give that honor to any other. See Ps. 26:1-12 esp. v7 and Psalm 107:21-22. Notice in verse 22 we “declare His works with rejoicing.”
1. First of all I want to thank God for the Bible, His Holy Word. It is not only inspired, it is preserved. Psalm 12:6-7 The Bible contains all that God wants man to know about Him and His plan for man. It contains all the promises of God to man.
2. Thank God for His provision for our sin. 2Cor. 9:15 “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift.” That gift is the gift of His Own Son, The Lord Jesus Christ coming to earth to die in our place on the cross. Rom. 8:32, “He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” See also John 4:10
3. Thank God for the Place He has prepared for all those who have believed the Bible and have received His Son for their Salvation. John 14:1-6 Tells us that all those who have received Jesus as Lord and Saviour have a place prepared by God waiting on us. It is not a room or a cottage…It is a mansion. Everyone has a place waiting to be occupied. In Acts 1:25, even Judas the betrayer of Jesus, and called by Jesus “a devil”, had a place.
It is my prayer that you have believed the Bible; that you have received Christ and that your thanksgiving is to God for His wonderful blessing of Eternal Life. If you have not been saved, I urge you to receive Christ today and GIVE GOD THANKS.
