Some regrets that will die with us or go with us into eternity
There comes a time in life when we need to move from celebration to challenge; from laughter to labor; for cheer to choices; from song to seriousness and focus our lives on the Lord and living for Him. We cannot celebrate forever and we cannot recreate forever. We have to stop and prepare for a real devil in a real world, in real life for a real Lord and a real future. This is an individual responsibility that every Child of God faces. Please read Col. 3:1-17. This is a beautiful text, an action text that is a reaction text for those of us who are Born Again. It rests on V.1 “If ye be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above…” V2. “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” Those of us who are truly Born Again and have our affection on things above, have on problem with the truths we know and the Lord we love.
I want to describe what I believe to be a believer living “The Above Life.” What is it like for those who “set” and “seek” the above life?
- We willingly live above reproach. (Job 27:6) “My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go. My heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.”
- We willingly live above regret. (Tit. 2:8; 1 Peter 3:16; 4:16 ; 1 John 2:28)
- We willingly live above rebuke. (Phil. 2:15; Rev. 3:19)
- We willingly and thankfully live above reach. 1 John 5:18; James 4:8; and Job 1:10
If we cannot live the “Above Life”, there can only be one of two reasons for the truly saved: (A) We are not seeking those things above, or (B) We are not setting our affection on things above.
It is not expected that a lost person would seek those things above or set their affection on things above, since 1 Cor. 2:14 tells us, “The natural (lost) man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” Are you living the “ABOVE LIFE?”
