The Resurrection was required for eternal life

The greatest victory in life is the victory over self
It is a strange thing that people will deny a Heaven or Hell, and yet blame a God they claim not to believe in for creating such a place, even calling Him a “cruel God.” Just as strange is the belief in reincarnation. Certainly, one who believes in reincarnation is obviously of the opinion that somehow the spirit of the person lives on in perpetuity, yet has no idea how that spirit gets from one form to another, except it be by some unknown power. The Bible does not teach reincarnation. While it is true that Jesus left heaven to be born of the virgin Mary, it is also true that He was not reincarnated, rather He was the incarnate Son of God. Christ always existed in eternity, however, in the plan of God, He was the “Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” When He died on the cross, He gave up the ghost and left the body He was born in and then three days later resurrected that same body.
However, the Bible says in Hebrews 9:27, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die (therefore once to live) but after this the judgment.” In Luke 16:22, Lazarus died and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom, and the rich (lost) man died was buried and v23 “In Hell lift up his eyes , being in torments…” Obviously, these people did not come back in another form. They did not live on in this world.
The truth is this: In Genesis 2:7, “And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Notice that it says “man became a living soul.” Every person that has ever lived, even every person ever conceived in the womb, “became a living soul.” Every Baby that has been aborted is still a living soul. David’s baby with Bathsheba, born out of his sin still lives. See 2 Sam.12:23 where David believed this great Bible truth. “…Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.”
Look at John 5:28-29 where Jesus tells of the time when all those who have lived on earth will be resurrected and reunited with the body they lived in on earth and either in Heaven or in Hell. When Jesus Christ resurrected, He guaranteed that all who lived on the earth would be raised up also and either go to Heaven through Christ or Hell through rejection of Christ. Jesus said, “Because I live, ye also shall live.”
There is no such thing as annihilation, meaning the total obliteration of an object into nothing. Goliath lives on today. Herod lives on today. Pharoah lives on today. They all live on in Hell. Moses, Elijah and all the Old Testament saints live on in Heaven. The truth is, we all are mortal souls who will put on immortality, either in Heaven with Christ or in Hell without Christ.
Now, you are going to live on in eternity…but where? Please read 1 John 5:11-13; John 3:16, 3:36 and 5:24
