What Happens When We Die? (Pt. 2)

Hebrews 9:27 states, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” This alone refutes the notion that there is not in every man something that lives on after death. To teach that the soul of man is mortal and not eternal is in direct opposition to the very plain teaching of Scriptures. Along with this, the teaching of the Jehovah’s Witness that Hell is not a place of “fiery torment” and does not exist is absurd. They claim that this is a doctrine of “organized religion.” To teach that Hell is the common grave of mankind is likewise false doctrine.

The Jehovah’s Witness teach that the “Second Death” is annihilation. By that, they mean that the soul of man and the soul of animals are alike and at death, those who reject Jehovah cease to exist. Revelation 20:6, Revelation 20:14 and Revelation 21:8 all mention the subject of the “Second Death.” Listen to two of these verses and see if you think that the “Second Death” is annihilation, ceasing to exist?

Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. THIS IS THE SECOND DEATH.” That definitely is not teaching that the Second Death means man ceases to exist. Revelation 21:8, “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in THE LAKE WHICH BURNETH WITH FIRE AND BRIMSTONE: WHICH IS THE SECOND DEATH.”

“Second Death” is the final casting of lost souls into the fires of Hell.

Now back to the first reference in Rev. 20:8. Those who are Born Again have the promise that “THE SECOND DEATH HATH NO POWER” on them. The simple truth is, the man that is born twice (once physically and once Spiritually only dies once. Those that are only born once and never “Born Again” die twice and that death is eternal in the “Lake of fire.” Look at John 5:28-29 and notice that there is a “resurrection of damnation.” “YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.”
