Interview with Dr. Charles Wright (Updated)

I have pastored for over 30 years and have had Bro. Wright with me in revival every year up until this year when his health would not permit him to travel. Brother Wright entered Heaven November 20, 2012' and is now with The Lord. No man dead or alive has been used of God in my life, my family's life or my Churches lives greater than this Servant of Christ!. We will miss his prayers, his Godly counsel, his gentle spirit, his loving attitude, his sweet fellowship, his great preaching, and his influence for God. Proverbs 27:17

Below is an interview I had with him Several years ago,

I asked my Pastor, Dr. Charles E. Wright some questions: I published his answers here on WDTBS and I felt his answers would be a blessing to you again. He just recently celebrated his 82nd birthday.  Dr. Wright will be with us all day tomorrow, May 16th 2010. He was scheduled to be with us in January for our Winter Revival but had to cancel due to sickness. I gave him an open invitation to come when he felt he could and that time has arrived.  I answered God's call to preach under his ministry December 19, 1977 at Peoples Baptist Church in Forest Park Georgia. He pastored the Church 22 years. He has been with me in meetings every year for 29 years straight. He now makes his home in Wytheville, Va. and still preaches wherever and whenever God opens the door. I asked him these questions:

  1. What is your greatest experience?
The greatest experience of my life was the time in June 1954 when I repented of my sins and by faith I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior. This was without a question, the greatest experience of my life. From the moment I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, my life was changed forever. I have never regretted that decision for one moment in all these years.
  2. What is your greatest accomplishment?
I believe the greatest accomplishment of my life is the privilege to preach the Word of God and to win souls to Christ. Seeing people saved and their lives changed and transformed by the power of God without a question is the greatest accomplishment of my life.
  3. What is your greatest fear?
My greatest fear is the fear of falling from the place of steadfastness and closeness to God. I fear not being at my best for the Lord. I fear failing in the opportunities that God has given to me.
  4. What is your greatest need?
My greatest need is the need of being filled with the Holy Spirit and having His power on my life and on my preaching. I realize that of my self I have no power, no strength, and no wisdom. I am totally dependent on the power of the blessed Holy Spirit of God.
  5. What is your greatest disappointment?
I believe the greatest disappointment of my life is seeing people that I had the privilege to lead to the Lord Jesus Christ and baptized, seeing those people grow cold, stray away from God, drop out of church and take their families out of church; people that I had high hopes for. I believe this is the greatest disappointment of my life.
  6. What is your greatest anticipation?
My greatest anticipation is the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ! This is the blessed hope of the Christian according to Titus 2:13. His coming is imminent! He could come back at any moment! When Jesus comes every born again Christian on the face of God's earth will be caught up to meet Him in the clouds of glory and so shall we "ever be with the Lord". "The former things will be passed away". There will be no more sickness, no more sadness and no more death! This is my greatest anticipation. My prayer is, "even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus".
  7. What is your greatest desire?
My greatest desire is to stay close to the Lord an be faithful to Him as long as I live on this earth and then to hear Him say when I stand in His presence, "Well done, thy good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." This is my greatest desire.

I hope these words from a great Man of God will be a blessing to you and encourage you to go on for the LORD and Look for the Blessed Hope of all Believers. Bro. Wright is 78 years old and has "served his generation" well. You may reach him at Fellowship Baptist Church in Wytheville, Va. 276-228-3129
