The Unspeakable Gift

2 Corinthians 9:15, "Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift." is perhaps one of the most all encompassing statements in the Bible. I say that because of the word unspeakable which modifies gift.

This season will be much devoted to giving and receiving gifts. Some of those gifts will be large and some will be small. Some will be priceless and some will be practically worthless. Their value will lie, not in the value counted in dollars and cents, but in heart and motive.

The unspeakable gift in 2 Corinthians 9:15 is the gift of the Savior for the sin of the world. The word unspeakable means, "not expounded in full", "indescribable." We cannot explain how God could love us so much that He would give His own Son to become incarnate by way of Mary's womb, live 33 years, and die on the cross in the place of every person who has ever lived or will ever live.

  • If you are a clean moral person, you are still a sinner and Christ died for you. THAT IS UNSPEAKABLE!
  • If you are a whoremonger, adulterer or fornicator, Christ died for you. THAT IS UNSPEAKABLE!
  • If you are a liar, cheat, thief, blasphemer or sodomite, Christ died for you. THAT IS UNSPEAKABLE!
  • If you are a rebel, hater of mom and dad, Christ died for you. THAT IS UNSPEAKABLE!

Please look up 1 CorinthIans 6:9-11 and read, "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you; but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." Now please look at and listen to Revelation 1:5: "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten from the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood," THAT, MY FRIENDS IS UNSPEAKABLE. HAVE YOU RECEIVED THE UNSPEAKABLE GIFT THROUGH CHRIST?
