"William Jefferson Clinton, did you chop down that cherry tree?"

"No, Dad."

"Son, I think you are lying."

"I did not have relations with that tree."

"Son, I saw you with the ax. Now, tell me the truth."

"Dad, I answered your question truthfully. Still, I must take complete responsibility for all my actions. While my answer was legally accurate, I did not volunteer information. Indeed, Dad, I did cause the cherry tree to be lying on the ground. I was wrong: It constituted a critical lapse of judgement and a personal failure on my part...I know my answer gave a false impression. I misled you, my own father. I deeply regret that. I can only tell you I was motivated by many factors. First, by a desire to protect myself from the embarrassment of my own conduct. I was also very concerned about protecting Mom from this shock. I used a saw to cause the cherry tree to fall... then I cut the limbs with the ax. So you see, I did not chop down the tree. I sawed it and then chopped the limbs. Dad, the Starr kid next door is out to get me and I want to reclaim my private life. This fallen tree has 'gone on too long, cost too much and hurt too many innocent people.' Dad, can we put this fallen tree behind us and turn our attention to our solid family relationship? This fallen tree is a private matter between me and the person I love most in this world."

"Oh, my son! That is the first time you have told me you love me in years."

2 Tim. 3:1-6 tells us who Bill Clinton really loves: "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away of divers lusts."

Bill Clinton has a history of deceit, lies and cover-up, and no matter what the cost, he will protect himself first because he is a lover of self. See 2 Tim. 3:9-13 for the outcome.
