I see thy tears

Some regrets that will die with us or go with us into eternity
On this past Sunday evening, I preached "Who Are The Real Superstars?" On this past Saturday night, one of the Falcon's most popular players known for his "deeply religious faith" was arrested for soliciting an undercover officer for acts of immorality. He was consoled in his room by another star who spent more than a month in jail last year after pleading guilty to sexual misconduct.
Coach Reeves said, "Unfortunately, even as Christians, we do things wrong... We're all sinners."
It is sad that with fame and fortune and superstardom comes failure. It is also sad that in America, we as a nation have placed such a value on these people because of their abilities that they are literally idolized, even worshipped.
In Romans 13:7, the Word of God says, "Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour." The word "honour" means: a value, by analogy; esteem especially in the highest degree of dignity.
No doubt Jesus is worthy of the highest degree of honour in this world. He was "crowned with glory and honour." Hebrews 2:9. Look at Revelation 4:9, 11; 5:12-13; 7:12 and Revelation 19:1,7. Jesus above all others is worthy of "honour". Philippians 2:9-11 "Wherefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." One day the superstars of America will bow the knee to Jesus! You folks who have made competing little gods out of them will fall in shame and disgrace before Him whose name is above every name.
Let me briefly give you some other superstars:
- According to Romans 2:1-13, faithful Christians are honorable. Friend, you are a superstar if you put Christ first Sunday evening and went to Church rather than sit behind a TV watching a game. Son, your dad may not pass or kick a winning touchdown, but if he can get a prayer through to God and lives a faithful life he is a superstar! Young girl, your mom may not sing or act, and may not be well known, but if she cooks and cleans, washes and works to make sure you have what you need, she is a superstar!
- According to 1 Peter 1:7, a suffering saint who is faithful and graceful is a superstar.
- According to 2 Corinthians 6:1-10, 2 Tim 2:21 and 1 Thess. 5:12-13, Preachers who will love people and preach truth are superstars. You ought to thank God for a preacher who will take a stand for right and preach truth.
- According to Hebrews 13:4, faithful married partners are honorable. Listen children, if your parents are married and they love each other and the Lord enough to be faithful to each other... they are the real superstars! You ought to hang their pictures in your room instead of superstars who live in sin.
God's superheroes are in the "Hall of Faith", and those in the "Hall of Filth" shall soon be in the "Hall of Flame".
Proverbs 10:7 states, "The memory of the just is blessed;
but the name of the wicked shall rot."
