Looking For A Better Country

Read Phil. 3:20-21; Heb. 11:8-16 ; Heb. 12:25-29 and 2 Pet. 3:10-15 and notice that all these Scriptures speak of living in another world. In fact, Christians have a dual citizenship. We are citizens of a worldly country and a Heavenly Country. Thank God we are, for the one we live in now is becoming more and more undesirable and more and more alienated from the God of the Bible. Not too long ago, Prayer in Jesus' name was a daily practice in public schools; the Bible was used to teach reading; the Ten Commandments were used as a guide for instilling morals; the true history of the founding of America was taught in the classrooms; and God was not a generic God that offended no one. Statesmen of years ago gave up their fortunes for the good of the land and today, politicians give up the land for their own good. There was an infectious spirit in the land where God was honored, neighbors were helped and manners were taught.

Sadly, today there is a spirit of compromise, complacency, carnality, calculation and confusion. There has been a rewriting of American History and America's Christian heritage. Our younger generation is being 'dumbed down' to these facts. Those of us who are saved know that even if this land was still like it was in the early days, we would still want to leave for our 'Better Country.' I love America; I still Pray for America; I salute the American flag; I pledge allegiance; I pray for and support our troops and our President; I vote and stand up on the issues. BUT I AM LOOKING FOR A BETTER COUNTRY! Let me give several reasons:

  1. I am looking for a better Country because this one is going to be destroyed. 2 Peter 3:10-18
  2. I am looking for a better Country because I am not going to live here forever. 1 Cor. 15:35-57; Rom 5:12; Heb. 9:27
  3. I am looking for a better Country because even if America could last forever and I could live forever, I do not like what I see America becoming.
  4. So, I plan to leave her, through the Blood of Jesus Christ, by faith in His death for my sin and live forever in my New Country, wherein dwelleth righteousness. My new Country has no crime, no cares, no division, no devil, no dread, no defilement and NO DEATH!

WOULD YOU LIKE TO LIVE IN A PLACE LIKE THAT?
John 14:1-6 will tell you how.
