The greatest victory in life is the victory over self
I am prompted to write on this subject by several experiences I have had in the ministry. Most of the time when I meet someone for the first time in public, I will either give a Gospel tract and invite them to Church, or I may give a tract and ask,"If you were to die today, do you know for sure that you are going to Heaven?" If they respond, "Yes" I may then ask, "How do you know?" Usually I ask, "Where do you attend Church?" Many times they will stammer and stutter and finally come up with the name or location. Sometimes if they answer immediately, I may ask, "Who is the Pastor?" and, you guessed it, many times they will stammer and stutter or name a previous Pastor of years ago. About a year ago a lady visited our Church twice in several weeks. Six months later my wife and I walked into the business where she works (not knowing she worked there) and she said to her coworkers, "This is my Pastor. I go to his Church." I did not embarrass her on the spot, but frankly, I wanted to.
I was in a store about two years ago and asked a lady employee after witnessing to her, "Where to you go to Church?" She stammered a little and said, "Faith Independent Baptist Church." I said, "That is amazing. I have been Pastor there almost nine years and I have never seen you." You guessed it. She stammered again and said, "I used to go there." I had exactly the same experience in my previous ministry in Georgia.
I wonder how many people visit our Church once or twice and when someone asks, "Where do you go to Church?" they say, "Faith Independent Baptist"? I wonder how many invisible Church members we have. Friend, if you are Saved, get in a good Church and serve God faithfully. If not, please don't lie about it.
Hebrews 10:25 states, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching." Become a visible, viable part of the Church you name as yours.
