God With Us

Last week I wrote on the subject "Son of God" and pointed out the Biblical teaching supported by the Scriptures that Jesus is both Son of God and God the Son.  Please refer to that article and if you need a copy, you may request by phone or retrieve from our website listed below.
Matt. 1:23 states, "Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is God with us."
1 Tim 3:16 states, "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory."
It has always boggled the minds of mortal men how God could become flesh and yet be God, yet faith in the plain statement of Scripture settles these kinds of questions for time and eternity.
The name Emmanuel, carries with it the truth of God's presence with us.  I have been around a lot of good people in my life, and I have learned to love a lot of good people in my life,  but none has ever matched the presence of God with me through my personal Faith in Christ and His dwelling in my heart.

Read Luke 2:8-14  and notice the presence of God with us brings Joy.
"I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people."
It would be a sad life without the Lord.  Not only that, But one of the reasons for the Joy of God in the heart of a true believer is forgiveness of sin.  1 John 3:5 states, "And ye know that He was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin." Col. 1:14, "In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins;"
Not only does the Presence of God with us bring joy because when we saved, sins are forgiven, but, The presence of God with us brings joy because Satan is defeated! Glory to the Lord!  Mankind has been under the curse since Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit in the Garden. (See Gen. 3 for this truth)  Read Luke 4:16-22 and notice Jesus what Emmanuel preached and to whom He preached.  If you are poor in spirit, brokenhearted, a captive to sin , blind to spiritual things and bruised,  He came to set you free.   See 1 John  4:4; 2 Cor. 4:3-7
